It all starts with a simple gesture: making it easier to dress a child. Here is how a father's intuition became a technology protected by 9 international patents — and a family story.
1998 — The founding gesture
It all starts with a simple gesture.
Making it easier to dress a child: this is the everyday problem Éric Sitbon set out to solve with a closure that positions itself. On December 3, 1998, the first patent was filed. The idea: magnets with alternating polarities that align on their own — no aiming, no forcing.
2000 — The foundation
SYSTEMMAG is born in Paris.
The company is founded to industrialise the invention. One principle is set from day one and has never moved: design closures that disappear into the product — flexible, silent, with no visible hardware.
2005 — The protection
The founding patent is granted in the United States.
The alternating-polarity architecture is protected. It becomes the cornerstone of a family of 9 international patents covering the complete system: magnet layout, protective pockets, textile integration.
2010s — The expansion
From garments to critical equipment.
Medical, defence, sport, assisted dressing, fashion, technical industry: the technology adapts to every material and every gesture. In the Paris workshop, every integration is qualified on real materials, from prototype to production.
2022 — The second generation
The patent that bears two signatures.
The connected-accessory mount patent is co-invented by Éric and Ruben Sitbon. Twenty-four years after the first filing, the next generation co-signs: the invention has become a family story.
2026 — Today
The invisible, at scale.
9 international patents, six markets, NdFeB magnets qualified from N40 to N52 — and still the same Paris address. The next chapter is written with the design offices that build SYSTEMMAG into their products.

Inventor of the SYSTEMMAG magnetic architecture and author of its founding patents, Éric Sitbon has led the company since its creation. His conviction has not moved since that first patent: the best closure is the one you forget.
